You see, this year was a year of terrible drought in our area. At one point in time almost 97% of our kingdom and all of our Shire was listed as in "Exceptional Drought" by the National Weather service.

For years, we have held our events at a Girl Scout camp at the western edge of Montogomery County and into Waller county called Camp Camwood. At the end of August, as we prepared for our annual event, fires broke out in the heavily wooded areas around the camp. Before all was said and done, nearly 23,000 acres burned. The camp and the surrounding areas were evacuated, roads were closed and over 70 homes burned.

Needless to say...we had to cancel our event. We were very sad about this because we had planned a very awesome event to be called "Bring Out Your Dead" A celebration of the end of the Black Plague in Venice.

However, we hope to hold this event in 2012 and at that time, our 2010 champions will find their successors.
